The fruit ripens in the first week of October. The harvested fruit keeps very well until April.
The Poinic apple is a Romanian variety of the old variety. The tree is vigorous and has a broad pyramidal crown. It is relatively resistant to rapeseed and beech compared to the varieties from which it comes. It comes into bearing in the 3rd year after planting and provides high, constant yields year after year. Its spherical-textured fruit is of superior quality. 170-200g in size, it has a greenish-yellow surface when harvested and yellow with a slight orange rust when ripe. The flesh is yellowish-white on the outside and greenish in the area delimited by the heart fascicles. It is firm, sweet, with low acidity and little flavour. It contains, on average, 9,45 g % sugar, 0,21 g % malic acid, 3,5-4,5 mg % vitamin C. The ripening period starts on 1 October, until around 10 October and lasts until April. Fruit tree grafted on M26 rootstock.

The background colour of the skin is greenish-yellow, covered on the sunny side with a deep red that covers almost the entire surface of the fruit.
The flesh is juicy and acidulous, greenish-white in colour, with a refreshing taste. Sometimes the taste is grassy and astringent. The fruit is resistant to transport, but shrinks during storage (hence the name).
